SKI RACING/MOGUALS/TREE SKIING AND LOTS OF FUN FOR THE ADVANCED 9-11 YEAR OLDS
Bantam is more advanced than Alcan Nancy Greene but not quite Alpine Racing. Children of this group are strong skiers aged 9-11, who are interested in continuing to improve their skiing with an increasing focus on racing. The extra coaching, additional racing and club provided uniform add up to a terrific package for the older kids.

We are looking forward to a great year of training, racing and having tons of fun! Here are a few things you need to know about the club…..
- The program runs Sundays from 9.30 -15:00. The participants will start skiing January 10th, 2010. Our coach is Kylar Highe. Kylar is an enthusiastic certified Canadian Ski Alliance coach both CSCF and CSIA certified.
- Your child will be supplied with a team jacket (outer shell with detachable fleece liner) and warm-up pants. We will need a cheque, post-dated for May 2010, for $200.00 before the uniform will be handed out. This cheque will be returned to you when the uniform is returned in April 2009.
- While children are in the program there will be no out of bounds skiing. Out of bounds skiing is not encouraged by the club. The club will take no responsibility for lost or hurt children while skiing out of bounds.
- Racing gear is not required, your child can use their regular ski equipment. Of course helmets must be worn at all times. If your child needs a new helmet buy one with ear protection because they will need it if they choose to join the Alpine Program in later years. Helmets with ear protection can be purchased at All Season’s.
- Club Members must have hard sided helmets. (2010) Click Here
- The use of crash helmets is compulsory for all events. Only helmets are permitted whose shell and padding cover the head and ears. The National Ski Associations are advised to provide their teams only with crash helmets which satisfy the minimum requirements for the respective event and which have been certified by recognised institutes. Helmets with spoilers or edges that stick out are not permitted. Certain helmets must show a smooth top surface for safety reasons. Helmets used in FIS Snowsports shall be specifically designed and manufactured for the respective discipline and shall bear a CE mark and conform to recognized and appropriate standards such as CEE 1077 or US 2040, ASTM F2040, SNELL S98 or RS 98, etc. Soft ear protections are only allowed for SL events.
- The Ski Club makes $500-$700 from the sale of BC Alpine lottery tickets (grand prize is a SUV!). Each family is expected to sell at least one book of tickets.
- The Shames Mountain Ski club has a formal behavior code and all participants are expected to behave in an appropriate manner while representing the club!
