Alpine ski programs are offered to children ages 5 to 18 years old. Progressive levels follow BC Alpine’s Snow Stars Program. These activities are geared towards having fun, advancing skiing skills in a safe environment, with an increasing spirit of completion at older ages. Competitions are at Shames Mountain (45 km from Terrace, BC) for the younger levels and then progress to the other ski hills in the region. Athletes over 12 years are given the opportunity to compete throughout British Columbia. Dryland training is in Terrace, on-snow training at Shames Mountain and summer training at Whistler, BC.

Progressing through the various levels, children learn slalom, giant slalom, super giant slalom, downhill and now skier cross (new in 2011) disciplines.  As the number-one winter sport in the world, ski racing is recognized internationally as a premier athletic event. Children involved in Shames Mountain Ski Club are provided the opportunity to learn life skills that help them become future leaders when they enter adulthood. Through an emphasis on goal setting, work ethic, budgeting, self-reliance, team work, mentoring, healthy eating, physical fitness and physiological training, the program fosters life skills. Shames Mountain Ski Club athletes are trained to become future leaders, ski coaches, life-long learners and productive members of society.

Nancy Greene Ski League (Entry Level)

·         Sundays 11:00 to 3:00 (Jan 8^th  to Mar 25^th)

·         $159 per athlete plus $35* per family

 Bantam (one day) (Train to Train Level)

·         Ages 8-12 (2003-1999)

·         Sundays full day (Dec to April)

·         One out of town competition

·         $225 per athlete  plus $35* per family

 Alpine & Bantam (two day) (Train to Compete Level)
